The Monthly Homestar Newspaper is looking for more journalists! We would like to open up the opportunity to other homeschoolers to have your articles featured in the newspaper!

Come be part of our Newspaper! We need more journalists. (Signing up to submit a article one month, does not make you responsible to participate every month.) We have several editors already (8+), but if you are interested, contact me. Editors will meet once a month on the last Wednesday of the month at the church between 4-5pm. We will have sign ups for meetings so that we don’t have too many at once. We want to make sure everyone can be included. The paper will come out at the end of each month. Submissions are due by the 20th of each month to be included in that months addition. We always take submissions, but they may not be included in that month. Please submit all materials to me in person or by email.(Deanna@rainbowvalleyhomeschool.org)

This newspaper is public and will be available to be viewed across our local homeschool community.

  • If articles are submitted without titles or pictures, the editors may add them.
  • There is no length requirement for articles, but at least 5-6 sentences are helpful and no more then one full printed page. There is only so much room for now.
  • If you have an event you would like to advertise for the next upcoming month, please contact me.

Things needed every month:

An article about a group project or trip we had recently in RVH.

At least 2 News articles. This can be current events, local or state events, world events, etc. Anything that is going on that you find interesting. You may do this by research, personal knowledge or interviews. Controversial topics may not be used. Most topics are fine.

2-3 articles on Interests. This can include but not limited to Technology, Art, science, engineering, medical research, etc. Travel is also a great topic. If you have traveled somewhere interesting, even for a day trip, that you would like to tell us about, please do.

Please also submit pictures of creations you have made for our Art section. This can be drawn, painted, built, etc. Send a picture of your creation. A few will be picked each month. Please add your name and age to the submission.

We could use articles on Sports. This can be about sports or about sporting events. Stats about famous players or the history of a sport would all work well for this section.

If you have a paper, report, or story that you did for school that you would like to show off, please submit it. We will pick one a month to feature!

You may also make word finds, sudoku, a joke section, crossword or comic to be featured in the paper.

We also like to congratulate students on their accomplishments. If you would like to send a picture and article telling about a recent accomplishment, we would love to put it in.

Please indicate how you would like your name shown in the paper with your submission!(We will automatically put first name if not specified) For artwork, include your name and age.
