Herkimer Diamond Mine
This trip is about 2.5 hours away. I will be planning ways for everyone to stay over if they would like. I will have more details as we get a bit closer.
First option is to go to Crystal Grove Campground. They have trailer sites, tent sites (with or without power) and cabin sites. There is mining on site and the prices are very reasonable. We will get a group rate by booking together but each person will get a code to call and set up their own camping. These fill up fast and we should book soon.
We will be going May 22th. My plan is to mine some on Thursday after we set up and also Friday.
Mining rates:
adults $10
Students $8
Hammer rentals $2 but we are encouraged to bring our own tools
These prices include a small gift for each student and an informative speech about the mines and what to do.
I will collect money for mining as we get closer. Everyone must book their own site as our insurance does not cover overnights. We can mine on Thursday after we get there and or Friday. We can work that out closer to the date.
Please look at the site:
The foot bridge is the trial to the mining. It is not far. I will be staying in the Queen of Diamonds if you want to all stay close together to camp. You may pick anything that works for you.
All camping rates will be 20% off their listed prices with the code.
Please contact me if you are interested. I’ll give you the codes. You can set up your campsite anytime! Sites fill up fast!!
I hope to get you details about the second mining option this week. We will be staying at this campsite either way. Campsites do fill up fast.
Second choice is just for mining. We would still be staying at Crystal Grove. There is another place nearby that has great mining. We can get the exact details if you are interested. Mining would be closer to $50 per person for this option. Let me know.
